What makes Needed’s Prenatal Iron different than others?
We offer an Iron bound to Glycine as Ferrous Bisglycinate Chelate (Ferrochel™) in 13.5mg capsules that allow you to more easily dose up or down as you need.
Ferrous Bisglycinate Chelate is a mineral chelate in which Iron is bound to two Glycine amino acid molecules. It is easily absorbed by the body and, unlike most other Iron forms, it minimizes constipation and gastric upset.
Why do you offer Iron separately from your Prenatal Multi?
We recommend taking Iron away from our Prenatal Multi, as Iron can interact negatively with other nutrients. We also recommend taking only as much as you need (some mamas do not need to supplement), as too much supplemental Iron can generate oxidative stress and alter the gut microbiome. Talk to your health practitioner about testing your Iron status before, during, and after pregnancy, and supplement if you are falling short. Our Iron is bound to Glycine for better absorption and digestive comfort.
How do I know how much Iron I need?
Start by scrolling up and reviewing our dosage chart. This chart was created in partnership with a group of women’s health practitioners that regularly test women's Iron levels before, during, and after pregnancy.
Is your Iron vegan, allergen free, and Non-GMO?
It is vegan and allergen free, meaning no milk, egg, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soy, and gluten are contained in the product. It is also free of GMOs, artificial colors, artificial flavors, preservatives, and other additives and fillers.
What are the "other ingredients" in your Iron?
Iron as Ferrous Bisglycinate Chelate (Ferrochel™) is carried in vegetable capsules made from cellulose with a small amount of extra cellulose and the amino acid, L-Leucine, to help place the Iron into capsules.
Where is your Iron manufactured?
Our Iron is manufactured in the United States at a FDA, GMP and QAI Certified Organic facility.
What kind of testing do you do?
We test every batch for performance and quality, including through third parties that test for nutritional content, pesticides and herbicides, heavy metals, microbes, allergens, and other contaminants.
I’ve found Iron really makes me nauseous while I am pregnant, will your product work for me?
Our Iron is the Ferrous Bisglycinate Chelate form, a mineral chelate in which Iron is bound to two Glycine amino acids. It is easily absorbed by the body and, unlike most other Iron forms, it minimizes constipation or gastric upset.
