Accessibility at Needed
We want everyone to be able to use thisisneeded.com, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, voice control, screen magnification or other assistive technology.
The standard we work to is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. We are working toward it and have not fully reached it yet. So far we have measured our progress with automated scans and keyboard checks. This page explains how we work on it and how to reach us if something gets in your way.

How we work on it
We check accessibility as part of how we build and review changes to the site.
Automated checks
Changes to our site’s code are checked automatically with the axe accessibility engine on a set of our most-used pages. A change that adds a serious issue is flagged for review before it is released.
A measured starting point
We ran automated accessibility tests of the pages shoppers use most, at phone and desktop sizes, against WCAG 2.2 A and AA. We are fixing what they found, starting with the problems that affect the most pages.
Keyboard and skip links
We have tested the path from a product page to checkout using only a keyboard, and most pages on our site start with skip links.

Tools from other companies
Some parts of the site are run by other companies: checkout (Shopify), subscription management (Recharge), and some review and chat tools. Where a problem comes from a setting we control, we work to fix it. Where it is in their code, we report it to them, but we cannot promise those parts meet the same standard.
Parts of our own pages
Some of our own pages and components may not fully meet the standard yet. We fix them as we find them, starting with the problems that affect the most pages.
