Prenatal Choline

Optimal Choline add-on to help you meet your daily needs.

95%+ of mamas are not meeting their Choline needs. Choline supports baby’s neural tube formation and cognitive development, as well as mama’s healthy metabolism, blood pressure, breastfeeding ease, and mood, so getting enough is key.

The RDA or daily minimum is 450mg/550mg while pregnant/nursing, and research suggests that upwards of 900mg in pregnancy supports optimal perinatal and infant health outcomes. Most prenatal vitamins contain 1/10th or less of the RDA, as Choline is a bulky nutrient.

Our Choline add-on is dosed at 250mg of Choline L(+) Bitartrate VitaCholine™ per capsule to help you reach optimal levels, on top of the highly supportive dosages in our Prenatal Multi Powder/Capsules (400mg), Prenatal Multi Essentials (150mg) and Prenatal Omega-3+ (100mg).

Your Choline supplement needs may vary by day depending on what you eat and what other supplements you take. However, the tolerable upper limit for Choline is set to 3,500mg per day, so taking additional Choline is quite safe, and may further benefit the health of you and your baby.

While some mamas obtain more Choline through dietary sources like eggs and liver, many can benefit from additional supplementation. Reference our dosage chart to find your optimal dosage based on your dietary and supplementation intake.

Take one capsule up to four times daily with food. For optimal absorption, we suggest taking no more than 500mg of Choline in one serving across all of your products.

Choline is one of THE MOST important nutrients when it comes to brain development in utero and early life; however, the vast majority of moms are not meeting the minimum requirements for pregnancy and breastfeeding. Research shows the greatest benefit for brain health is found in doses at or above 900 mg/day, which is double the RDA. As a Perinatal and Pediatric Naturopathic Doctor specializing in neurodevelopment, I am thrilled to have a well sourced choline supplement to add for those mamas who are not meeting their needs through diet alone. Thoughtful inquiry is needed.

What makes Needed’s Choline different from others?
We use the optimal nutrient forms of Choline L(+) Bitartrate VitaCholine™. Plus, our Choline comes in 250mg capsules for easy dosage tailoring.
Why do you offer Choline separately from your Prenatal Multi?
95%+ of mamas are not meeting their Choline needs. The RDA or daily minimum is 450mg/550mg while pregnant/nursing, and research suggests that consuming upwards of 900mg in pregnancy supports optimal perinatal and infant health outcomes. Choline is not found abundantly in many foods, so many mamas can benefit from a supplement. For optimal absorption, we suggest taking no more than 500mg of Choline in one serving across all of your products.
How do I know how much Choline I need?
Start by scrolling up and reviewing our dosage chart and compare it with your daily intake through food and supplements.
Is your Choline vegan, allergen free, and Non-GMO?
It is vegan and allergen free, meaning no milk, egg, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soy, and gluten are contained in the product. It is also free of GMOs, artificial colors, artificial flavors, preservatives, and other additives and fillers.
What are the “other ingredients” in your Choline?
Our Choline is carried in vegetable capsules made from cellulose with a small amount of the amino acid, L-Leucine, to help place the nutrients into capsules.
Where is your Choline manufactured?
Our Choline is manufactured in the United States in a GMP Certified facility.
What kind of testing do you do?
We test every batch for performance and quality, including through third parties that test for nutritional content, pesticides and herbicides, heavy metals, microbes, allergens, and other contaminants.
