How is the Essentials different from your Prenatal Multi (Powder and Capsules)?

We get it, sometimes taking a handful of pills just won't cut it (hello, first trimester nausea). We pared down our complete Prenatal Multi (eight capsules or powder) to just the essentials you and your baby need. Our Prenatal Multi Essentials is the most nourishing prenatal available in just three pills, with optimal nutrient forms and meaningful dosages of the critical nutrients. Like our other products, we worked directly with practitioners who regularly test nutrient levels to select every nutrient form and dose.
When should I start taking the Prenatal Multi Essentials?

Take it before, during, after pregnancy — and even beyond — for the nourishment you need to feel your best and avoid depletion, and to give your baby everything their body needs to thrive from the very start. We like to stress the importance of preconception nutritional preparation and postpartum recovery, so this product is for you even if you are a few years away from having kids or a few years postpartum.
Why do you offer Iron separately?

We recommend taking Iron separately from our Prenatal Multi Essentials, so you can be in control of the amount of iron you take. We recommend taking only as much as you need (some women do not need to supplement), as too much supplemental Iron can generate oxidative stress and alter the gut microbiome. Talk to your health practitioner about testing your Iron status before, during, and after pregnancy, and supplement if you are falling short. Our Iron is bound to Glycine for better absorption and digestive comfort.*
Why do the amounts of some of the nutrients in Prenatal Multi Essentials exceed the percent Daily Value?

We designed our Prenatal Multi Essentials to help you thrive, not just survive. Daily Values are set off of the Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDAs) which most often do not offer enough nutritional value for women, especially while pregnant or nursing. Is your Prenatal Multi Essentials vegan, allergen free, and Non-GMO?

Our Prenatal Multi is vegetarian and non-GMO. Free of 9 major allergens and gluten.
Everything makes me nauseous while I am pregnant, will your product work for me?

We know, even 3 capsules can be hard. We suggest taking 1 per meal, if you can. These capsules can also be opened to combine with a smoothie or soft food. Do Needed Prenatal Vitamins contain Methylated Folate?

Yes. Needed’s Prenatal Vitamins contain include Optifolin+®, a bioavailable, fully bioactive methylfolate (L-5-MTHF) enriched with choline providing superior benefits for healthy methylation, setting it apart from other forms of methylfolate. Other forms of methylfolate utilize salts, such as calcium or glucosamine salts, which need to be present to support the stability of methylfolate but do not enable this nutritionally synergistic benefit.

Methylated folate and folic acid are two different forms of folate. 5-MTHF is the active form that the body can directly use, while folic acid is a synthetic form that must be converted before it becomes active. We choose methylated folate because it is the form naturally used by the body and is a well-studied, bioavailable source that supports healthy folate status.

Adequate folate intake supports maternal health by supporting normal cell division and the formation of red blood cells, which are essential for energy production and oxygen delivery during pregnancy.* Folate also plays a critical role in fetal development by supporting neural tube formation and healthy cellular growth and function.* Learn more about why we choose methylated folate here.

    Will purchase for years to come

    I started taking 6 months preconception as I was preparing my body. I did continue to take through postpartum and I experienced no hair loss. Now currently pregnant with my second and feel like I am getting all the nutrients I need, even on days when all I feel like eating is a potato. Love these prenatals.

    I found these from the Healthy as a Mother podcast. I had been struggling deciding between all the popular prenatals but was sold on these from learning what Dr. Leah and Dr. Morgan said about them. I am not yet pregnant, but hoping to be soon.
